A 50 year old gentleman came to us for vasectomy reversal.
He was remarried and has undergone vasectomy 14 years back.
His wife was 34 year old and we got her examined for ovarian reserve by gynaecologist As she opined that the ovarian reserve was reasonably good we decided to go ahead with vasectomy reversal.
As the years lapsing after vasectomy was longer; we explained that chance of sperm in the ejaculate may be less and also he might need vasoepididymostomy if there is a blow out phenomenon.
On exploration he had both distal and proximal vasal patency normal so a microsurgical vasovasostomy done with 4 mucosa to mucosa 10-0 Nylon sutures(Ethicon 3313) and 4 sutures in the adventetia with 8-0 prolene.
There was a very good outcome in semen analysis after 1 month.the sperm count was 8 millions with however no motile spems. We are awaiting his seminogram after 3 and 6 months.We have asked him to cryopreserve the semen if necessary.
