Aggressive Bladder Cancer Linked to Heavy Smoking

Men who are heavy smokers(who smoke more than 40 cigarettes a Day)  are at significantly increased risk for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) than light Smokers( Who smoke 20 ciggerates  a day) and non-smokers, according to a study.

Compared with non-smokers and light smokers, heavy smokers were more likely to have higher- grade tumors which are of more advanced clinical stage and present with Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer. Compared with non-smokers, light smokers had an 18% increased risk for Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer and heavy smokers had a 38% increased risk. , Heavy smoking was associated with a significantly increased risk of presenting with Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer in men, but not in women.
