MICROPERC: DR RAMAYYAPRAMILA CCONDUTING WEBINAR FOR STATE UROLOGISTS

RamayyaPramila Urology Hospital a 42 year old HealthCare Institution has performed for the first time  microperc procedure for kidney stone disease in Hyderabad. It is almost noninvasive procedure which involves making a tiny hole in the backside of the patient to extract the stones from Kidneys. It is a modification of usual Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy(PCNL)- a drilling procedure to remove stones from the kidney .But unlike PCNL; the microperc doesnot involve risk of bleeding : the procedure is painless and patient recuperates fast and leave the hospital within 24-48 hours.

We use 4.3 Fr (1 mm size) scope, 6 Fr sheath and 200 microm Holmium Laser fiber to fragment and pulverize the stones. It is perfected suited for small volume calculus disease: especially stones in renal calyceal diverticulae, post PCNL/ESWL residual fragments. Our experience has been very good with excellent clearance of stones, no bleeding and importantly there was no need of auxiliary procedures. We have done 10 procedures till now.

The Hospital was established in 1970 by Dr.G.P.Ramayya as a first Specialized Uro-Surgical Hospital in the State of AP.   Dr GP Ramayya was the Professor of Surgery Osmania Hospital and Pricipal Gandhi Medical College.  He was also the personal surgeon to the Nizam of Hyderabad.
